Complete this form and follow the instructions for the sling measurements.

Each of our replacement slings are sewn with a double hem on four sides using Gore Tenara thread. Gore Tenara is a premium thread made of durable fibers. Exposure to the sun, rain, snow, salt and cleaning chemicals will not cause it to degrade.

How Do You Replace Patio Chair Mesh Slings

You may have engaged a local repairer, who can make and fit your new sling. Otherwise, the fitting stage is over to you. How do you fit your replacement sling?

Youll need a flat head screwdriver, a razor knife, pliers and possibly a Philips screwdriver if the chair has cross head screws.

  • Remove the end caps from the side rails
  • Cut through the center of the old sling fabric, top to bottom
  • Coax the two pieces of fabric out from the rails
  • You may need to use pliers to get it out, so have a pair handy. Pull from the bottom
  • Remove the spreader bars
  • You now have an empty frame, all ready for your new sling. The new sling will come with a hem on each side and two insertable splines. First, feed the splines into the hems
  • Working from the top, insert the new sling into the top of one of the side rails
  • Keep pulling it through. Pliers and a second person will both help, especially as you get towards the bottom of the chair!
  • When its all the way through, tip the chair onto its side and remove the rail with the new sling
  • Put the chair back upright, and fit the sling into the other sides rail. The sling is now in both side rails
  • Reattach the first slide rail to the side of the chair
  • Pull the fabric gently as you tighten the side rail, to get tension in the sling
  • Replace the bars, trim any excess spline, and out the end caps back on
  • Sit down on your fabulous new chair, and have a cold beer or cup of fresh coffee to celebrate

    Question: Recovering Deck Chairs

My deck chairs are cloth with a small rope type tubing inlaid on each side. They are coming apart, but the chairs are still solid. Does anyone know how to redo them?

I do know how to avoid this when things are new. Some Fabric paint on the back side painted over the stitches makes the stitches hold up longer.

The easiest way to have new covers for your deck chairs are : 1) Buy new ones, or 2) Take them to an upholstery or auto seat cover shop to have them re-do them. BUT. With patience and a few sewing skills, you can re-cover them yourself. Just take the cushions apart and use the old pieces for your pattern. Be sure to purchase âoutdoorâ fabric so that it will last the longest, and get new cushion insides if they need it. Just noticing the cushion construction as you dismantled them for patterns will give you the guide to assembling the new ones. Be fearless and patient with yourself, youâll do a fine job. And remember that practice makes perfectâ the second one will be even easier.

If you know how to sew just make a pattern out of the covers including the piping, out of waterproof fabric, you can also add a zipper so you can take the covers on and off. Dianne

    1. Order a New Sling

Before you get started, you have to measure your chairs and order replacement sling. To find width, measure from the center of one rail to the center of the opposite rail at the bolt locations typically found at the top and bottom of the sling. To find length, lay a cloth tape measure along the top face of one rail so it follows the rail’s curvature.

    2. Cut the Old Sling

Slash the old sling down the middle with a utility knife. Remove the end cap on each side rail.

    3. Remove the Old Sling

Slide the two halves of the sling out of their tracks in the chair’s rails. Loosen but don’t remove the bolts that attach the rails to the chair frame, then pop out the spreader bar. This is the best time to retouch or repaint your frame. Go to Frame Touch-Up Techniques for how-to and tips.

    4. Slide the New Sling On

Remove one rail entirely. Hold the sling with its hem side to the back and slide its nylon rod into the track of the rail that’s still attached to the chair frame.

    5. Secure the New Sling

Slide the detached rail over the sling’s other nylon rod. Bolt this rail back on the frame. Tighten the loose bolts on the opposite rail to make the sling taut.

    6. Reattach the Spreader Bar

Reinsert the spreader bar. Use a pipe clamp to spread the rails slightly if need be, bend the bar a bit to make it fit, then hit it with a rubber mallet to restore its shape.

    7. Trim the Rods

How Do You Fix An Outdoor Folding Chair

Assuming you are referring to a patio/outdoor folding chair with metal joints: If one of the legs on your patio or outdoor folding chair is sagging, it is likely due to a loose or worn-out screw. You can fix this by removing the leg and tightening or replacing the screws. If the problem persists, you may need to replace the entire leg. To remove a leg from your patio or outdoor folding chair: 1. Unfold the chair and flip it over so that you can access the underside of the seat. 2. Locate the screw that is holding the leg in place. It will be located at either end of each metal bracket that joins the front and back legs together. 3. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the screws and set them aside in a safe place. 4. Gently pull on the leg until it comes free from its bracket. Repeat this process for each leg until all four have been removed. 5. Inspect each leg for damage and repair or replace as necessary before proceeding to step 6. 6. Once all four legs have been inspected and repaired/replaced as necessary, reattach them by aligning each leg with its respective bracket and inserting screws into pre-drilled holes until tight do not overtighten!

    Fixing Sagging Patio Chair Cushion

How to Replace & Repair Fabric on the Outdoor Sling Style Chair

If you have a patio chair with a cushion, the cushion will be the first component to sag. They often hold our weight, which causes the materials within the cushion to deteriorate over time.

Fortunately, repairing a saggy cushion is simple. First, remove all of the material inside the cushion if your cushion has a zip, this will be much easier if not, you will have to remove the stitching on one end of the cushion cover. When youre finished, pull out the inserts as well.

Next, using a measuring tape, measure the inserts and cut your new foam to fit the insert specifications. Before reinstalling the insert, there are two options for dealing with the inserts: glue the old insert to the old insert with an adhesive spray or replace the old insert with a new one. Choose the best choice for your situation.

Now that you have a firmer insert in the cushion, you can resew or rezip it before reinstalling it on the patio chair. This simple procedure is for foam-type cushions. If your cushions are filled with fiberfill, you must stuff them with the same material before zipping or resewing them.
