How Much Does A Typical Lawn Service Cost

How to Make Money with Extra Services in Lawn Care

Now that you know the benefits of hiring professional lawn maintenance, you may be wondering how much it could set you back.

The average cost of a biweekly mow and treatment will be in the region of $30-$80 dollars, based on a lawn size of 3,000-8,000 sq ft.This will, of course, depend upon the size and state of your lawn. If you have a much larger area for the services to mow and treat, then it will obviously take more time and product and will result in a higher cost accordingly.

If your lawn is in a state that needs a lot of attention and treatment, then the first few weeks are likely to cost more, but the prices will reduce as the lawn becomes easier to upkeep. Many companies will give you a free quote if you let them know the size of your lawn and what services you require, so its definitely worth asking as you have nothing to lose!

So in response to the question is it worth paying for lawn care?, the answer is definitely yes. There are plenty of reasons to hire lawn care services that outweigh the reasons not to.

If the reason is to save money, the likelihood is that you will spend way more doing it yourself, wasting your well-earnt money on useless products and all the machinery, not to mention you might be missing out on that increased house value!

Is Trugreen Worth It

TruGreen can be one of the more fairly priced options for lawn maintenance and service, and because of that, it is worth the price.

It is also hard to find a landscaping company that can handle almost everything that you need them to do.

This leaves you having to hire separate people for fertilizing, seeding, and weed control.

Most homeowners will admit that they would rather have one or two people working for them and not six different contractors just to handle the lawn.

This makes TruGreen a valuable resource for those who are interested in having their lawn care needs removed from their to-do list.

There are some important things you should know about TruGreen before you decide if it is the best choice for your lawn care needs.

Here are a few of the things that you should consider.

What Is The Average Cost Of Trugreen

The cost of TruGreen can vary. This depends on factors like where you live, the size of your lawn, and both the types and number of treatments you need. The more inclusive plans cost more than the streamlined ones. With our estimates, on average, the plans for a half-acre lawn range from $640 to $1,300 per year.

They Will Provide Consistent Care

Lets face it, it can be difficult to keep up to something when the rest of our lives are so busy with work, family and friends, and other commitments. Some weeks are just going to be too busy for you to tend to your lawn.

Taking care of a lawn can be a physically exhausting job. For those who have illnesses or mobility issues, some weeks, the task will be too much to face.

Lawns can get out of hand if they are not maintained properly, leading to increased effort in the following weeks. Is lawn service worth the money? Yes, because hiring a professional lawn service will ensure that your lawn is cared for in a more consistent and efficient manner.

Why Is Landscape Edging Important To Install

Lawn Service Insurance Rates

Landscape edging is a key element to a well-maintained lawn.

Edging creates a clear and attractive line separating the grass from garden beds.

There are many different types of lawn edging materials, and if youre having edging professionally installed the cost will depend upon the linear feet of edging installed, and the material youll use.

Popular types include stone, wood, plastic, concrete, or brick.

Landscape edging usually costs between $700 and $1,700, installed. Again, the size of your property and the type of edging youll use will impact how much youll pay.

Why I Love It

First, my wife is pushing clean products in our household. Im talking everything shampoo, food, mattresses, and now our fertilizer. And Sunday claims to contain better ingredients. So far, theyve lived up to that claim.

The selective weed killer is just iron. The lawn nutrients are iron and potash. And the list goes on. But what it doesnt contain are harsh chemicals. And thats a big win in my book.

The only thing that I was skeptical was the non-selective weed killer, which said 3% ammonia and 97% other ingredients. My guess is that these are chemicals, but I had trouble verifying this. And it smells just like Round Up.

Its a sneaky way of getting around the all-natural claim, but its not a deal breaker for me. After all, the rest of the ingredients are clean, so youre still benefiting there.

But the big reason I love Sunday is that its just so dang easy. Just wait for the box, spray it on when it arrives, test the soil once per year, and they do the rest.

No more storing chemicals in your garage. No more guessing about what your lawn needs. No more harsh, pet-unfriendly ingredients.

Would I buy it again? Abso-freaking-lutely. My lawns never looked greener, and I cant wait to see what it looks like by the end of the summer.

If I were you, Id buy it now. But, if youre still wondering about the details, Ive put together a more thorough rundown of the company, its mission, its plans, pricing, and more below.

A Recent Study Shows Americans Spend Years On Lawn Care

In a recent study, researchers have found that the average person can spend 1248 days of his/her performing lawn care.

Additionally, you need to consider the cost of the equipment, the cost of maintaining that equipment, and the potential risks associated with mowing.

You could argue that its actually much cheaper to hire a pro to handle lawn care.

Below are some reasons that may help you decide whether or not to fire up the lawn mower or instead to fire up GreenPalan easy-to-use website that helps you find lawn care.

Variety Of Services Offered

One of the best reasons to choose TruGreen is when you need a good number of services to properly take care of your property.

For instance, if all you need is a simple mow, weed-whack, and blow, then you may not be taking advantage of all that TruGreen has to offer.

For most people, choosing TruGreen makes sense when you also need fertilization, seeding, and weed control.

This is where TruGreen really specializes in keeping the lawn looking good as well as maintaining it.

These services can be hard to complete as a homeowner, and many local companies do not have the licensing to work with fertilizers or chemicals.

Sod Or Turf Installation

Yes, their worth the money! Greentouch racks on lawncare trailer

For obvious reasons, turf installation is an expensive process. Whether you are installing sod, or artifical turf, its a labor-intensive process which requires expensive materials to complete.

You should expect to pay as much as $4,800 for this to be done professionally.

Before the company gives you a quote for a flat rate, it will need to visit your property to determine its size.

Some companies can do the estimate remotely via satellite images.

Sunday Lawn Care is a Boulder, Colorado-based natural lawn fertilizer company. This company uses the subscription model, allowing customers to have custom lawn fertilizer nutrient pouches delivered once, twice, or three times a year.

Getting Your Lawn Overseeded

Overseeding your lawn via a professional usually cost around $1,200, which you saw in my lawn care pricing chart.

Overseeding can boost the health and appearance of your lawn by encouraging the grass to continue growing even when older and problematic patches die.

When you hire a company to overseed your lawn, you can specify that a disease-resistant or drought-resistant grass seed be used. This will be helpful for you if you live in a harsh climate.

I have an article with detailed recommendations about the best seed to use for overseeding if youd like to learn more.

Lean startup business plans are far less structured because they focus like a laser-guided missile on only the most essential facts.

Are Lawn Care Companies Worth It To You Guys

Ive heard mixed reviews online but I know most of them are paid endorsements so Im mostly wondering about cost wise as far as fertilizer and other spraying they offer. Just wondering if it ends up being a cash trap where they are pushing up sells on you.

  • After all, maybe have any good advices about them ?

Do you mean like TruGreen or similar? I could tell you horror stories about companies like that!! Unless they can provide you with a schedule of what they supply and when and that matches up to both the timing and products recommended by the local extension service or other local turf care resources then I would avoid.

being a cash trap where they are pushing up sells on you

That is typically exactly what happens. Too frequent or unnecessary or “preventative” applications of both fertilizers or pesticides are their claim to fame and how they make money. They also like to upsell to expand to other yard care services, typically involving unnecessary spraying as well.

Hiring a Lawn Care Service Overview

If the idea of spending your weekends pushing a mower or a spreader doesnt sound appealing, you might want to hire a professional lawn care service. It will cost you significantly more, but for some people, the extra time is worth the money.

You can hire a professional service simply to mow your lawn each week for a fairly minimal cost. You can hire a service to fertilize and treat your lawn on a regular basis. Or, you can opt for full-service lawn care and landscaping to ensure that you never have to spend time on yard work.

Hiring a Lawn Care Service Cost

Its difficult to estimate the total cost of hiring a lawn care service because it depends on the services you request, the size of your lawn and your region of the country. At a minimum, budget about $30 per visit for basic mowing and edging. For a half-acre lawn, budget closer to $40 to $50 per visit.

Services such as trimming hedges, mulching and weeding run extra. Trimming usually costs about $200 to $400 each visit , while weeding can cost up to $50 per month.

Lawn care services charge about $400 to $700 per year for chemical applications. That includes fertilizing your lawn, killing weeds, preventing weed growth and controlling insects. Most services will treat your lawn six to eight times per year.
