Solenoid Sprinkler Repair Cost
Repairing a sprinkler solenoid costs between $75 and $125. The sprinkler solenoid is a wire coil connected to the controller. When activated, it generates a magnetic force that controls a little plunger inside the valve so that the valve opens and plays a key part in controlling the pressure for the system. It can get blocked with sand, dirt, or even bugs, so a repairmans first action is usually to inspect and clean the solenoid.
Different Types Of Sprinkler Systems: Automatic Or Manual
Before you think about the cost to install an irrigation system, you have to decide whether you want an automatic sprinkler system or a manual system where you have to manually turn on/off each stations individually to control your sprinkler system. Manual sprinkler systems turn on whenever you turn them on by hand but they will require constant monitoring so that the garden isnt overwatered, plus often turning on the sprinkler system slips our mind and then the plants are not looked after properly. Another downside is that to efficiently water a regular size garden using a manual watering system is time consuming
A solution to this is automatic sprinkler systems which are controlled by an automated controller the brain of a retic system that once set up takes care of automatically turning on/off each zones at the appropriate time and days. Certain controller systems can detect local wether condition automatically updating the watering regime to make the most of the weather conditions you can also plugin a wifi module that allows you to monitor and control your retic system from wherever you happen to be..
We recommend automatic sprinkler systems every time for convenience, reliability, garden health and water conservation.
To help you understand more about your system so you can make better choices, lets discuss the different types of sprinklers and what type of gardens would they suit.
How Many Gallons Of Water Does It Take To Irrigate 1 Acre
4.5/527,154 gallonsread here
In the table below it is estimated that each sprinkler zone uses 15 gallons of water per minute. For one watering cycle a total of 750 gallons of water are used.
Beside above, how much water is needed to irrigate a lawn? Most lawns need 1 to 1.5 inches of water per weekeither from rain or wateringto soak the soil that deeply. That amount of water can either be applied during a single watering or divided into two waterings during the week. Just be sure not to overwater your lawn.
Also to know is, how many gallons of water does it take to water a football field?
To provide your lawn with one inch of water takes a little over half a gallon per square foot . That means that every 10’x10′ area will require over 62 gallons of water.
How many sprinklers can I run on one line?
The resulting number will equal how many zones you need. If, for example, each sprinkler head will require a flow rate of 1.31 GPM and you have 20 of them, then you will need 26.2 GPM total. If your system can only handle 16.67, you will need to use two zones to cover that same area of your yard.

Ground Sprinkler System Costs
Even in areas that receive higher-than-average rainfall, the inconsistency of rain makes it necessary to manually water lawns and landscaping in order to keep them full and verdant. The alternative to time-consuming hand watering is a lawn sprinkler system. Not only will a sprinkler system save you time, but it also conserves water through its more efficient delivery system. Sprinkler system installation is cheaper than most homeowners think and DIY installation can save homeowners 30 to 40 percent over professional installation.
Can You Afford One
Irrigation systems arent cheap, and although some of them are incredibly efficient, you wont see a financial return on your investment in the same way you might by installing a top-of-the-line smart thermostat or solar panels.
Whats more, financial circumstances change, we hope for the better, but thats not always the case. If youre hit by sudden money troubles, you may not be able to afford to pay for the running and maintenance costs of your system.
This is why, when thinking of installing an irrigation system, you should contemplate your future financial standing as well as your present outlook.
Does your future look comfortable, or do you foresee some tight times ahead?

How Much Does It Cost: Watering The Lawn
This post will be filed in the Dad is Learning folder. It was a HUGE wake up call to me about some wasteful behavior I have been engaged in as a homeowner
Over the past few weeks in North Texas we have been blessed with below normal temperatures and a surprising amount of rain for July. The long range forecast shows our temperatures climbing back above 100 degrees and any chance of rain disappearing. Lawns, landscaping, and gardens will all need water to survive, but how much water and how often? Ill start by taking a look at my setup and then take a look at some cost saving options and ideas for watering the lawn.
When we built our house in 2007 we had a Bermuda grass lawn hydro-mulched after a sprinkler system was installed. Our property is 1 acre, which is larger than most, but we only water approximately half of it the front yard and the play area out back. We are watering approximately 22,000 sqft of grass which is about double the amount of the average home owner. Here are some numbers I put together to calculate cost:
First I determined the gallons per minute that is available to my sprinkler system. I used a 5 gallon bucket and a watch. Quickly turn an outside hose bib on all the way and fill the bucket. Take note of the number of seconds this takes. Divide that number by 5 and then multiply by 60. That number is your GPM. My GPM was 7.14. Its honestly a bit sobering to realize just how quickly water can flow out of your hose.

The cost per zone is about $650 therefore, if you have six zones, youll multiply the cost by 6.
Before you arrive at the cost, youll need to contract an irrigation systems company to install a sprinkler system on your lawn. The company will evaluate your residential property to estimate your watering needs.
The evaluation will involve checking what youve planted on your property. For example, your front yard might have flowers, while your backyard has vegetables and fruits. On the side, you might have grass and a few bushes or trees.
Each of these areas will have varying watering needs. The company in charge of installing the sprinkler system will break down the areas into watering zones. Each zone will have a different watering system to ensure that the plants, grass, or trees get the right amount of water.
Also, each zone can feature a single valve to control all the sprinkler heads.
