What Popular Lawn Mowers Are Not Made In The Usa

2017 Ryobi 40V Self-Propelled Electric Lawn Mower Unboxing and Review

Snapper Snapper assembles some of their gas-powered mowers in the US, but most of the parts for those mowers come from foreign sources. Also, all of their electric mowers are manufactured overseas.

Toro Toro is another popular lawn mower brand that many assume is American-made but is actually just American-assembled in Wisconsin, Florida and elsewhere. While some of the parts for Toro mowers are sourced in the USA, most, including the motors for their powered mowers, are produced in Japan.

Craftsman For decades Craftsman was considered about as red, white, and blue a brand as you could find. Today, Craftsmans original parent company, Sears, is on its last legs and the Craftsman brand has been sold off to Stanley, Black & Decker. Like Toro mowers, Craftsman mowers are mostly assembled in the USA from parts made elsewhere.

Ryobi Push Lawn Mowers

Ryobi offers a number of push lawn mower, with its range primarily focusing on the electric range. Its petrol-powered push range includes a 160cc, 175cc and a 190cc model, all of which are powered by a 4-stroke engine. The Ryobi 160cc model features four blades, an auto-priming engine for an easier start, mulching function and easy-fold handles. The 175cc model features a 46cm cutting width, eight height settings, 1.2L fuel tank, 55L catcher and a 3-in-1 discharge type, allowing you to either catch, mulch or discharge out the side to help you keep your lawn looking the way you want it. The top-of-the-line petrol push mower, the 190cc 4-stroke model, includes primarily the same features as the 175cc model, with the addition of a bit of extra power, and self-propelled drive to help ease the load of mowing.

Ryobi 13 Inch One+ Lawn Mower Review

  • May 11, 2021October 3, 2021

So I bought the Ryobi 13 inch ONE+ cordless lawn mower that I warned you about. I had my reasons for buying it. And I have to say, if you go in with the right expectations, its pretty great for what it is.

The tool Youtubers make fun of this 13 inch Ryobi ONE+ lawn mower. But its surprisingly good.

First things first. Im not the intended audience for this mower. I have between 1/4 and 1/3 of an acre, and this mower is really designed for a quarter-acre lot. A 21-inch mower is what you typically use for a yard my size.

I bought it for two reasons. First, I wasnt sure if either of my gas mowers have a season left in them. I can cut the front yard with it, if nothing else. In an emergency, if I cant get a gas mower started, this will do. If nothing else, its an emergency mower that takes up very little space and uses the same batteries as my power tools.

The other reason I bought it was because it uses the same batteries as my power tools. The mower cost $200. The battery it comes with sells for $100 separately. So effectively I got this mini-mower for $100. Ill use the battery in my drills regardless of how much I use the mower. If it could be a reliable backup, I was going to be satisfied with it.

And the bonus: Its small and light enough to hang on the wall when not in use.

For the first time in Consumer Reports lawn mower tests, the top Overall Scores for battery-powered walk-behind mowers are comparable with those of the top gas-powered walk-behind mowers.

Simply put, the best battery mowers we evaluated easily rival the best gas ones.

And, for the first time, several battery push mowers in our ratings offer an impressive run time of 70 or 80 minutes. To improve run times, mower makers are designing new models with multiple battery slots when one battery is spent, another can take over.

If youre in the market for a mower but worry that a battery might poop out in the middle of the job, these new, faster results might calm those doubts.

Battery run times have finally increased to the point where some mowers are able to cut nearly half an acre in one charge, says Misha Kollontai, CRs test engineer who rates lawn mowers. They get better every year.

Gas-powered lawn mowers require replacing the oil, spark plugs, air filters, removing the excess gas, adding fuel stabilizerWho knows how to do all of that?! Surely not me. Without that maintenance, you might risk not being able to start your lawn mower the following season. But with RYOBI electric lawn mowers, simply remove the 40V battery, fold it up, and store it out of the way until spring comes again.

Reason #: Its Better For The Environment

Lets be honest about something, shall we? Global warming is definitely real. Emissions from many sources, including gasoline, are killing this planet. We have the technology to dump gas. I wont get all political on you, but those are the facts. You cant argue with fact. If we can run cars on electric, we can certainly run all of our lawn tools on electric, as well. Zero emissions mean were protecting the environment. You dont have to feel guilty about harming the environment every time you mow your lawn

    Ryobi Mowers And Personal Experiences

As I have mentioned several times in this post, I do personally own two RYOBI mowers and that is why when I am asked if RYOBI lawn mowers are any good I can quantifiably say yes. Yes, they are good durable mowers that can stand up to rigorous mowing conditions.

At my current home, I cut between 2.5 2.75 acres of grass. I have a mix of Bermuda sod and some type of fescue weed mix. Bermuda or as I call it the good grass is around my home and backyard. I have what is left of a pecan orchard and a small grass field surrounding my house. That grass is a mix of Bermuda, fescue, clover, and weeds, or what I refer to as the bad grass. I use my mowers three seasons out of the year, either cutting grass or mulching leaves. My mowers get a lot of use and I use them, and only have a couple of months downtime, generally January and February.

I will now go over briefly my personal experiences using these two RYOBI mowers and why I think RYOBI makes a good battery powered lawn mower.

When we bought our house a few years ago, we didn’t have any outdoor tools. My first purchase was a cheap, tiny, battery powered lawn mower to cut our dandelion-filled yard .

It struggled with thick grass, and the battery conked out before I finished our small yard. Neighbors said it looked like I was pushing a toy lawn mower around because it was so tiny! But it was quiet, and it got the job done .

So I was really excited when Ryobi reached out and asked if I’d like to review their 20 inch battery powered lawn mower! It’s quite the upgrade over the tiny 13 inch model I was using before!

Combining 40-Volts of lithium power with advanced brushless technology this mower delivers GAS-LIKE POWER, surrendering nothing but gas. Featuring self-propelled rear-wheel drive, this mower increases your traction, making it easier to maneuver and almost effortless to use. The dual active ports include 40V 6Ah batteries that deliver maximum run-time and instant power at the push of a button.

    Ego Cs1800 56v 18 Vs Ryobi 40v 14

What is a Ryobi Automatic Lawn Mower?

Although both of these devices are battery-powered chainsaws, which means that they do not need gas to operate, this is really the only way in which they are similar. The EGO is an 18 chainsaw that costs around twice as much as the 14 Ryobi. The Ego has a 56V battery compared to the Ryobis 40V. The results are as you would expect.

The larger and more powerful Ego is the better option. It is powerful, although you may want to upgrade from the 5Ah battery that is part of the kit: it offers reasonable runtime, but you will get much better from the available 10Ah alternative that is also available. It has auto-tensioning, an LED light, and is a reliable and powerful option for the home user.

In contrast, the 14 Ryobi will cost about half as much and it operates using the 40V battery. You are recommended to get the latest generation battery for the best performance. Although it isnt as powerful as the Ego, it is lighter, which makes it easier to use, and it is also quieter. Whats more, because it uses and needs less power, it actually lasts a similar time.

The Ego is better for medium to large jobs, and its power means it takes this competition, but for smaller jobs, the convenience of the Ryobi means that we would probably choose this model.

Are Ryobi Battery Lawn Mowers Any Good

Last Updated on September 20, 2021 by the staff of TheAllElectricLawn

Well I guess I am a little partial here, but if you were to ask me are RYOBI battery lawn mowers any good, I would give a resounding, yes. I personally own two RYOBI lawn mowers the 16inch 40v push mower and the 100Ah 42 zero turn. I enjoy using both of the mowers to handle the cutting duties at my home.

While I am not a full fledge dyed in neon green/yellow RYOBI fanatic, I do own quite a few RYOBI hand tools and outdoor power tools which I use in and around my house on a regular basis.

In the spring of 2019, I was in desperate need of replacing my aging Husquvarna gas riding lawn mower. At that point, I decided I needed and wanted to make the switch to battery powered lawn mower and battery powered lawn equipment in general.

I personally made the switch to all electric lawn equipment near the end of the spring of 2019. I ordered both of the RYOBI mowers from Home Depot , and they arrived within a week or so. I have been very pleased with both mowers and couldnt be happier with my decision.

  • Ryobi Mower Long Term Review

After three years of use, and extensive research on the competition, I believe the Ryobi 40-volt cordless lawn mower is the best mower for the money, for people with small lawns. My mower is the RY40170 20 brushless mower. It came included with two 4 amp hour batteries, is capable of mulching and bagging, only weighs 44 lbs , and comes with a 5 year warranty. It has seven cutting height adjustments that you can easily adjust with a single lever and the handles fold down flat making it super easy to store. This is especially helpful if you have limited space in your garage or shed. Having two batteries included is a big bonus. Based on the reading Ive done, with the included batteries, the Ryobi has the longest run time of any cordless mower . With a robust 40 volt ecosystem, its batteries can also be used to power other Ryobi lawn equipment, such as a string trimmer and blower.

So What Do You Think About Electric Lawn Mowers And Yard Tools

This past weekend when I was at the Home Depot PROspective event in Atlanta, I was able to speak to many companies embracing electric technology. I asked one of the reps, Do you know of any companies that are not getting on the electric tools bandwagon? His response was eye-opening. He said that its not companies that arent welcoming the technology, its some die-hard gas-powered customers who are not willing to give the technology a chance.

That was eye-opening. But Im pretty sure that gas-powered tools are a dying breed when its so evident that electric lawn tools are:

    • Better for the environment
    • Affordable
    • Quiet
    • Easier to use for all people, no matter size or physical abilities
    • Easier to stow away off-season.

Im honored to be working with RYOBI Outdoor tools to get the word out about the benefits of electric lawn tools!
