Application of fungicide should be done when the fungal patches appear, usually mid to late summer, Reseeding with different grass species, where necessary, can be done by over-seeding over several fall seasons, or, if you want quicker results, eliminate the old turf grasses in spring and reseed immediately.
Signs And Symptoms Of Grass Rust
The symptom of rust diseases that youre most likely to spot is the obvious one: small, yellow dots on grass blades that develop into orange or brown pustules. When touched, these pustules rupture easily and spread a powdery substance thats a rusty orange in color. How Do Fungi Affect The Soil
Fungus generally does not harm the soil itself. The only problem is with the deficiency of nutrients and the growth of excessive fungi can kill your loving plants. Some of the direct effect of fungi on the soil is-

Uproot The Toadstools By Their Base

If you are dealing with just a few toadstools, you can pull each one of them by hand or cut with a kitchen knife from the base. For larger patches, you will need a mow.
Just make sure to pull out the entire mushroom including the stalk and roots. Chucking out the top part and leaving the roots intact will allow the toadstools to grow back again in no time.
Pro tip: Avoid disposing cut toadstools in your compost. Instead, put them up in a plastic bag and throw in the trash to prevent the spores from spreading.

Dish Soap Or Fungicide
Pull Them Out
If you leave them there for too long, the mushrooms will release spores, which will cause even more of them to grow. Instead, pull them out of the ground once they appear. You can also mow or rake them, but chances are that the spores will spread all over the lawn.
But first, poke holes around each mushroom, at least one foot deep, with Shepherds hook, screwdriver, or trowel. Once you pull the mushrooms out, make sure to put them into a bag instead of a compost pile, and dispose of them.
Fill the Holes With Either:
- Dish Soap and Water Solution
Mix 2 to 3 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid and about 2 gallons of water in a bucket, then pour the solution over the area where you poked the holes. This process, however, can take quite a while.
- Fungicide
For a faster resolution, you can go with fungicide. First you would need to use a granular fungicide like the Heritige 30lbs bag or alternatively you can get the smaller 10lbs bag.
