Changing Grass Types Is A Perfect Reason To Grow A New Lawn
If you lived in a cooler climate and had bermudagrass turf then your grass would be vigorous in the summer but would take a weirdly long time to green up in the Spring and would go dormant for the winter very early in the fall because of lower ground temperatures.
If you have an older variety of Tall Fescue in your lawn then the texture may be very poor and the excessive bunchiness of the grass may feel unpleasant to walk on.
If you regularly see high heat and low rainfall during the summer in location that gets regular snow over the winter then Kentucky Bluegrass may be too challenging to grow.
If you have a Bahia lawn in an area with lower amounts of humidity then this too can make lawn care harder for you.
If you have a seriously shady part of your lawn then switching to fine fescue can make sense.

Control Crab Grass With A Crab Grass Preventer In The Spring
- Apply a crab grass pre-emergence preventer between the first and third mowings in the spring.
- Preventers usually come as granules that you put on the lawn with a spreader.
- Make notes in the fall about where your crab grass seems to thrive and treat those areas in the spring.
- Once crab grass shows up in your lawn, you have three options:
- Hand-pull the clumps to prevent the plant from reseeding itself.
- Let the crab grass go until the following spring and then use a preventer at the right time.
- Treat clumps with a post-emergence crab grass killer.

Select A Broadleaf Weed Killer
Make sure you check the label to see if wild violets are included in the list of lawn weeds that any herbicide will treat. We like TZone. Because the wild violet roots can be so challenging, multiple treatments may be necessary. You should be able to purchase some at your local garden center.
You can also add dish soap or another surfactant to a weed killer mixture to spot treat areas where the plants are growing.
Again, any weed killer may require repeated treatment until the weeds are eradicated.
What Are Chemical Weed Killers
Chemical weed killers are lawn herbicides that consist of man-made plant hormones. Their action is to cause uncontrolled rapid growth on two-seeded plants, which includes most weeds, eventually causing the plants to die.
After four to six weeks, the weeds should be dead. Normal lawn grass is single-seeded and is not affected by hormones. A chemical weed killer should be used with caution and preferably only when mechanical or manual means have not been effective. The best effect is achieved when the lawn is properly prepared for treatment.

Get A Weed Killer Solution And Spray It
There are different types of weed control solutions, from weed seeds to perennial growths. Remember to check the product labels, the weeds you are dealing with, and the grass you have to avoid damaging your beautiful lawn. If you buy an emergent herbicide or an artificial solution, be sure not to purchase one that burns the soil.
There exist homemade solutions you can create with your kitchen materials. Suppose you have vinegar, especially the white one, because it will help you to kill weed permanently. You must spray directly to the weed plant to avoid killing other natural flowers you could have.
Moreover, another option is to mix the vinegar with salt or baking soda to have better results in the garden. As mentioned before, you should be careful with the application to avoid hurting the soil. So, you must go directly to the shallow roots of the weeds. You can use baking soda to kill the weeds when overwatering in the garden, especially in the rainy growing season.
How Often Can You Use Lawn Weed Killers
This all depends on the weedkiller being used. Each manufacturer is different so do read the label.
Our recommended weed killers Resolva and Weedol suggest only one treatment per year but if you use each one once that allows you two full lawn treatments in a year. This only applies to weed killer for the coverage of the whole lawn NOT ready to use for spot treatments.
My advice would be a maximum of 2 treatments per annum using two different weed killers with different active ingredients. Further, you are only likely to treat this often in the first and possibly second year to get rid of established weeds. Once you get in to subsequent years a treatment in September will be the most youll need if you do some weed control with a spot weed killer during spring and summer. If you have good lawn care practices youll find you wont need a complete lawn treatment for several years. I give my lawn a full treatment about every 3 years!

Can I Get Rid Of Weeds In A Lawn Naturally
Yes! But it may take more time and effort. Spraying vinegar directly on weeds is a natural way to get rid of them. It dries out the plant leaves and kills whats above the ground.
Also, pick vinegar that contains more than the standard 5 percent acetic acid. Head to a home improvement store instead of the supermarket to find vinegar with 10 to 20 percent acetic acid.
If you spray that, you can kill 80 to 100 percent of weeds top growth, found USDA research.
This method works best for a few weeds spread throughout the lawn. For larger spreads, its best to go with a safe, effective herbicide.
