Its not a good idea for the health of your hose to leave water lying in it. Water that does get left can get quite warm, even hot enough to scold the blades of grass. Replace Lawn Mower Blades
Dull mower blades create jagged grass edges that quickly turn brown. The individual blades of grass will look torn, not neatly cut. They may even get a white tint to the tips of them. That means its time to sharpen your lawn mower blades.
Mowing with sharpened blades goes a long way to improve the look of your lawn. Sharpen mower blades once or twice a year. Its a simple task you can do yourself. If your blade is too far gone, replace it.

How Do You Revive Dead Grass Quickly
There is no way to revive dead grass, but you can keep brown or yellowing grass from dying out. The best way to revive dehydrated grass is to offer moisture as needed. To revive a lawn that has spots of dead grass mixed in with dying grass, we have some tips. Start by raking the spots of dead grass to loosen the soil and remove the expired blades. Lightly rake the healthy areas to get rid of dying grass and aerate the soil for root stimulation. Once you have the land prepared, take a rotary seed spreader and lay down new grass seed over the dead spots. Using a lawn roller, gently press the seeds into the soil of the dead spots. Moisten the soil at regular intervals to support healthy growth. Make sure you also use a high-phosphorus fertilizer to give the grass seeds an extra boost.
How Much Is Too Much
Adequate nitrogen is crucial for lush, healthy, green grass. However, there can be too much of a good thing. The general rule of thumb is this: you should apply no more than one pound of nitrogen for every thousand square feet of lawn, and you should do so no more than twice per year .
So, say youre using a fertilizer with 5% nitrogen, you should use 20 pounds maximum.
What to do when youve applied too much?
Many of us have experienced a phenomenon called fertilizer burn, where we used too much fertilizer and our grass ends up with yellow and brown stripes, or patches of dying or dead grass.
Fortunately, there are things we can do to correct this:
- Leach excess fertilizer. Use a sprinkler head and a garden hose to fully saturate the overfertilized area. The water will drain through the soil, bringing the fertilizer with it. Apply about an inch of water and repeat this every day for a week.
- Remove dead grass. Use a rake to remove the fertilizer-burned areas, add to a compost pile or trash can.
- Plant new grass seed. When spring arrives, plant new grass seeds.
