You Cant Call Sears Canada
When I first posted this blog in 2017, Sears Canada was still a thing. Unfortunately, no more. What I do not recommend is calling Searspartsdirect in the US with your Canadian model number or at least take their responses with a grain of salt. Ive heard all kinds of things from customers theyve been told that 944 numbers are the same as 917 numbers theyre not. That 944 manuals dont exist any longer they do. That a belt is universal for all 42 Craftsman models there are a few common belts, but it is definitely not a universal part.
Searspartsdirect can be a helpful site and Im sure their staff are knowledgeable, but have limited usability for our Canadian Craftsman models. They also dont ship to Canada but if you do get a part number from them, we should be able to provide the part!

How To Change My 22 In Craftsman Lawn Mower Blade

Craftsman lawn mowers are sold by Sears department stores. The Craftsman 22-inch mower is a walk-behind unit that is powered by a small gasoline engine which is operated by a pull starter. The single cutting blade is durable but will wear over time, so you must remove it to sharpen and eventually replace it.
Locate the spark plug on the side of the engine cylinder. Grasp the spark plug boot where it attached to the spark plug and pull it straight up to release it from the plug.
Tip the mower on its side with the carburetor and air filter assembly facing upwards, as this will keep fuel from leaking out of the mower.
Put on a pair of heavy work gloves. Hold the blade firmly with one hand. Place a socket that is attached to a ratchet wrench on the bolt at the center of the blade. Loosen and remove the bolt. Be careful not to loose the flat mounting plate, which may fall off once you remove the bolt.

Lift the blade straight off of the crankshaft and remove it from the cutting deck.
Slide the blade adapter straight off of the crankshaft. Apply a layer of light-weight motor oil to the crankshaft and the interior surface of the hole in the blade adapter with a finger. Slide the adapter back into place on the crankshaft.

Drive Belt: Some self-propelled walk-behind mowers have a drive belt that powers the wheels. These are vulnerable to stretching or cracking over time. Height Adjustment And Range
Were iffy about a single point height adjustment with gas mowers because the weight of the mower can introduce flex and fatigue to that point, resulting in a flimsy look and feel. Its something we normally see on lighter battery-powered mowers .
The Craftsman M310, however, reaches a compromise here. Rather than forcing the user to adjust the deck height at each of the wheels, it employs a two-point adjustment at the front and back of the mower. It feels pretty sturdy, and only having to adjust two wheels is still more convenient than four.
This mower has 6 different height settings that range from 1 to 3.5. We might like to see a bit more range on the top end for our St. Augustine grass, but this mower has the range to tackle most grasses pretty effectively.
